Hello, hello, hello and welcome to your Liberty Shields Live Sports blog for this upcoming weekend. Need a Live Sport Streaming VPN?
It’s April, though nobody has told the Irish weather apparently! Never mind though, the good weather isn’t far away and neither is the end of this pandemic. Fans are expected back in stadiums in the coming months and life is due to start moving back to something closer to normality as vaccine numbers continue to look good and lockdown restrictions ease. Fun Fact: Live Sport Streaming is one of the most searched terms on Google!
Anyway, the weekend is somehow here again so as usual we’ve put together a somewhat exhaustive list of the best live sport available to you over the next few days so let’s just jump straight in.

Elsewhere there are big games taking place across Europe with the pick of each of the top five leagues looking something like this:
Serie A – Sassuolo vs Roma on Saturday at 2pm. It may not be the biggest game on the footballing calendar but it could be one of the most entertaining of the weekend. Sassuolo are one of the most exciting teams in Europe with fantastic young players like Jeremie Boga and Hamed Traore complimenting their stars Domenico Berardi and Manuel Locatelli. A former Sassuolo star, Lorenzo Pellegrini is now the star man for Roma and is almost single handedly responsible for the capital city sides challenge for a top 4 finish this season. Sassualo currently sit 8th in table after a poor run of form but should give 6th placed Roma plenty of trouble this weekend.
Ligue 1 – PSG vs Lille on Saturday at 4pm. These teams sit first and second respectively in the table, separated only by goal difference. PSG, despite their inconsistencies, have clawed their way back to the top of table after Lille’s failure to turn draws into wins finally caught up with them. The mega-rich Parisians will see this game as an opportunity to begin to open up a gap at the top of the table as they aim to win a fourth consecutive league title, and an eighth in nine years. Lille will hope that they can rediscover the form that saw them lead the league for months on end, but with more of a goal threat upfront. Jonathan David has found some form after a poor start to life in Ligue 1 and they will need him to do the business at one end, knowing that Sven Botman and co. are more than capable at the other end.
Bundesliga – RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich on Saturday at 5pm. Another top of the table clash, and another example of a mega-power overcoming some uncharacteristically poor domestic form to take top spot on the road to yet another title. For Bayern this would be a 9th title in a row, and set them up to attempt to do what both Juventus and Celtic failed to do this season in winning 10 in a row. Leipzig are the only team with a realistic chance of upsetting the applecart and after crashing out of the Champions League they can now turn their focus exclusively to domestic action. In a somewhat weird, but typically Bundesliga turn of events, Dayot Upamecano will line out at centre-back for Leipzig having already agreed a deal to join Bayern in the summer. Bayern will have to cope without the goalscoring prowess of Robert Lewandowski for the next month so this game will represent a big test for them as they gear up to take on PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals.
La Liga – Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid on Sunday at 8pm. It’s fourth vs first in La Liga’s game of the week, with the team in first desperate for a win having seen their 12 point lead at the top of the table shrink to just four points as they stumbled and Barcelona surged behind them. Luckily for them Sevilla come into this game in poor form, having been dumped out of the Champions League by Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund, and have won over two of their last five La Liga fixtures. They won’t have the same urgency as Atleti either, given they hold a commanding 10 point advantage over 5th placed Real Sociedad for the final Champions League spot. Atleti should be favourites to win this game but with Jules Kounde establishing himself as the best defender in the league, and the immense talent of Youssef En-Nesyri upfront, Sevilla are a match for anyone on their day.

It’s another massive weekend for Rugby as domestic rugby takes a break and the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup get under way. It’s also the start of the 20th Women’s Six Nations Championship where, rather than the traditional format, the six teams are being split into two groups of three. This means there will be no Triple Crown or Grand Slam winner this year, simply a Six Nations Champion. There is one game scheduled in each group this weekend, with England facing Scotland at 3pm on Saturday in the Group A match and France taking on Wales later that evening in the Group B match-up. These games are being shown on BBC iPlayer and the RTE Player this weekend.
As for the Champions Cup, Friday night sees Leinster taking on Toulon at 5.30pm and Gloucester facing La Rochelle at 8pm, Saturday brings together Wasps and Clermont at 12.30, Munster and Toulouse at 3pm, and finally Exeter and Lyon at 5.30pm with Sunday showcasing Racing 92 at 12.30pm, Bordeaux-Begles and Bristol at 3pm and last but not least Scarlets and Sale at 5.30pm. All games are live on BT Sports.
The Challenge Cup may be the secondary tournament but there’s a great schedule of games. Friday has Zebre vs Bath at 3pm, London Irish vs Cardiff Blues at 5.30pm and Montpellier vs Glasgow at 8pm, Saturday is jampacked as Benetton vs Agen, and Ospreys vs Newcastle both kick off at 3pm, followed by Dragons vs Northampton at 5.30pm and Leicester vs Connacht at 8pm. There’s just the one game on Sunday as Harlequins take on Ulster at 8pm. As with the Champions Cup, all games are live on BT Sports.

The event will be headlined by a Featherweight World title fight between the defending Champion Patricio Freire taking on Emmanuel Sanders in a rematch of their 2018 contest and will mark the sixth defense Freire has made of the belt he won by defeating Daniel Straus in 2017. The contest will also serve as a semi-final in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix with the winner moving on to face the dominant AJ McKee with both the title and the Grand Prix prize on the line.

The PGA tour is in San Antonio, Texas for the Valero Texas Open this weekend as the world’s best players contest a $7.7mil prize fund with the winner set to take home just shy of $1.4mil. This is the last event before next weekend’s Masters so it’s a final chance for the world’s best players to fine turn their games before the first of the seasons Majors.
The event wasn’t held last year because of the pandemic but 2019 winner Corey Conners is part of this year’s field. He shot a -1 first round, but sits seven strokes behind the early leader Camilo Villegas who’s astonishing -8 round left him two shots clear of the field.

After this ODI series they’ll meet again for a four match T20 series that starts next week.

The world’s best mens Tennis players are likely enjoying a weekend off as the only ATP events this weekend are minor 250 tournaments, but the same can’t be said of the women who have a WTA 1000 tournament to focus on as they wrap up the Miami Open.
World Number One Ashleigh Barty has already secured her place in Saturday’s final and awaits the winner of Bianca Andreescu and Maria Sakkari who will play their semi-final contest on Friday. Andreescu is the higher ranked player but Sakkari will be full of confidence having knocked out Naomi Osaka to reach this stage.

Monday marks the beginning of the qualifiers for the 2021 World Championships and in a match for those of a nostalgic nature, Stephen Hendry has been drawn to play Jimmy White. This pair who have had so many titanic matches at the World Championship, including four finals in five years, and had been practicing together in preparation for the tournament. Hendry, arguably the greatest player of all time, has returned from retirement with the sole aim of qualifying for the competition and will now have to do so at the expense of his greatest rival. White, the best player to never win a world title and a six time runner up, would probably love nothing more than to end Hendry’s hopes of making it back to Snooker’s biggest stage.
