As the BBC continue their pull back on their sports rights packages the RBS 6 Nations follows Formula 1, US Masters and Open Golf Championships with a dual broadcast arrangement; this time with ITV sharing the rights.
The 2016 RBS 6 Nations begins on Saturday 6th February and marks the start of a six-year deal between the BBC and ITV that will see the matches shared between the broadcasters on television and online. There will also be radio coverage on BBC Radio 5 live, as well as via the ITV Hub and ITV’s dedicated Six Nations website.
The BBC will have exclusive television coverage of four of the first six games from the tournament including the Calcutta Cup game between Scotland and England from Murrayfield
There will also be live coverage of the closing match between France and England, along with all of Scotland, Wales and France’s remaining home games.
ITV will show both of England’s home games and many of ITV’s pundits return following their involvement in the channel’s exclusive coverage of the Rugby World Cup 2015, with former Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll, ex-Wales captain Gareth Thomas, ex-Scotland coach Sir Ian McGeechan all involved.
